At Sips for Kicks, we believe that every child deserves more than just clothing they deserve dignity, confidence, and the chance to feel like they belong. 

That’s why we provide new shoes for foster children across SE Michigan.

Something as simple as a pair of fresh kicks can change the way a child sees themselves. Shoes are more than style they’re a step toward self-esteem and confidence.

Our Mission:   

Our mission is to uplift children in foster care by providing new shoes that inspire dignity, boost confidence, and foster a true sense of belonging. We believe every child deserves to walk into the world with pride, hope, and the promise of a brighter future.

Our Story:

When Michael was 10, he visited a local foster closet with his friend, who was a foster parent. That was day one. Michael was surprised that not every child experiences the simple joy of new shoes.  He learned that many kids in foster care wore worn-out shoes, hand-me-downs, or shoes that did not fit. Michael knows the excitement of slipping on a brand-new pair of shoes. 

For him, new shoes were not just about style—they were about confidence, pride, and feeling like he belonged.  The contrast hit him hard. How could something as simple as a pair of shoes make such a big difference in a child’s life? He imagined the embarrassment of wearing shoes with holes, the discomfort, and the sense of being “different” from his peers. That moment lit a spark in Michael. He did not want any child to feel left behind or less than because of something so basic.

From that moment, Sips4Kicks was born-a nonprofit dedicated to providing brand-new shoes to children in foster care. Michael’s vision is simple yet powerful: to give every child the chance to step into the world with dignity, confidence, and the knowledge that they belong. Through Sips4Kicks, he turned a personal realization into a mission that changes lives, one pair of shoes at a time. Michael collects cans, holds yard sales, and hosts lemonade stands to fund his mission.
